By now, the night shift is truly underway. Still awake and still warm, which is just as well as we haven’t even reached the half-way point. We left the buzzing of Leicester Square and headed down St Martins Lane, past Trafalgar Square (which was eerily quiet after the liveliness of Soho) and onto the Strand to catch the night bus to Liverpool Street. The night bus is a true sociological study in itself – it is remarkable how many people are abroad in the small hours. As well as the clubbers, the drunks, the hen-partyists, there are the workers who keep things going behind the scenes – the bus drivers, office workers and the police, to name but a few. Stained glass, night lights and surrounding darkness prompted a few out-of-focus (deliberately so!) abstract shots.
