NaNoWriMo Day 30

Last day of Nano and I’m going to miss it.  There is a book within my book and today saw the last chapter of that being uploaded.  And now to think about re-writing the whole thing.  I have a number of plot gaps, some real continuity clunkers (eg. in Heinrich’s chapter he marries Violet in 1939, in Violet’s chapter, she marries Heinrich in 1952 and she’s the same age in both) and some name changes. When the phantom pen is flying along, I can’t interrupt the flow to see the name I gave to someone in chapter one, so they just get another name.  It’s been a wonderful month and big thanks to everyone who has supported, inspired or just been there.  The final track for the playlist is another one from Fidelio, as that is the opera that has so much significance for the plot – both the performance that marked the re-opening of the opera house and acted as an allegory of the re-birth of Austria.  It was broadcast via loudspeakers to the assembled masses outside the house and, according to eye witness accounts, when Florestan (played by Anton Dermota) reached the line ‘lead me to freedom’, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, or out of it.  So the final track of the Nano opera playlist is Anton Dermota singing that very aria.

Today’s images are the raison d’etre for Libretti:  Niemals vergessen.
