I was somewhat perplexed on seeing that today’s word was “nye”, meaning ‘A brood of pheasants’, as I couldn’t see the relevance to the occasion. And then the penny suddenly dropped – it may be a brood of pheasants, but as an abbreviation, it means something completely different and is completely relevant. MisterMac and I had a fabulous evening, wining and dining with friends, who put on the most amazing spread (herzlichen Dank R&M!). There was almost a slight wobble in the proceedings, however, when the pig’s nose was produced, carefully sliced and ready for sizzling in the fondue pot. Thankfully, MM and I had pieces that looked like bacon. Our hosts, however, had pieces that left nothing to the imagination – but they are apparently the bringers of great luck, although I suspect the pig would agree to differ.Pig1

In other news, I have now completed my 365 based on the OED word of the day. At times, it was challenging and a lot of lateral thinking has been employed, but it has been such fun, that I’m going to do it again next year.

Day #365 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by theĀ OED word of the day.
