260814 Peckham Offendicle

An “offendicle” is ‘A stumbling block; something that causes spiritual stumbling; a cause of offence; an occasion of sin or spiritual difficulty’ (OED). I feel that this piece of graffito has relevance on several levels. Peckham is changing and I love it! It reminds me very much of the transformation that has taken place on the Danube canal. But it begs the question as to whether the changes are for the benefit of the existing community or whether they are intended to attract a new community, which would entirely change the feel of the place. And – as today’s pic shows – not everyone is in favour …

Day #235 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
