“Ponente” means: ‘In the western Mediterranean: a westerly wind; the west wind’(OED). Chelsea is neither in the Med nor did it see any wind today – westerly or otherwise. In fact, it was a beautiful, sunny day and so it felt like the Med; I thought this reflection in a car mirror had a certain Mediterranean feel to it – blue sky, white buildings etc. Unfortunately the Med weather didn’t last long as it is tipping down as I write this.
