080614 MisterMac in Discubiture

080614_LR“Discubiture” means ‘A reclining posture assumed when dining.'(OED). Reclining in the sun enjoying a Cornetto and not the peeled grapes or boar’s head that would probably suit discubiture far better than an ice-cream. I think the demise of the lectus triclinaris is a great shame and probably accounts for discubiture being obsolete. Much as I would like to add it to the list of words to resurrect, without the proper facilities and the slaves, it would be somewhat pointless. And yes, the weeding is on the to-do list …

And a big H A P P Y   B I R T H D A Y to my older brother.   @Nick – I’ve had to say that because your age is all over Facebook … and as I’ve lopped a few years off mine, I am now your younger sister:-)) xx

Day #159 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
