170314_LRIt’s St Patrick’s Day and so, not surprisingly, the OED has chosen an Irish word – macushla – meaning: ‘As a form of address: (my) dear; darling’ (OED). I thought I would probably find an appropriate pic in an Irish pub, but they seem to be a bit thin on the ground. I swear when I was studying over here, there was one on every street. Of the two I eventually located, one was abandoned and the other was being refurbished. But I did find a sign saying Failte Romhat (welcome) and there was a little green leprechaun on the crossing lights …

Day #76 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by theĀ OED word of the day.
