L1004849_LRAn interesting word today, namely redolent meaning: ‘Originally: having or diffusing a pleasant smell, aroma, or scent; sweet-smelling, fragrant. In later use chiefly: strong smelling, pungent’ (OED). I find it interesting since it is a word that I use quite often, but always figuratively. In fact, I didn’t even know it had this literal meaning. So today’s picture is a manhole cover, which I suspect covers a whole array of pungent smells. Although it may not look that interesting as a picture, it is rather fascinating as a historical testimony to the manufacturing industry of Chelsea that no longer exists.

Day #58 of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
