090214_LRAs I feared, it looks as though it’s going to be two weeks of Olympic speak. Thankfully, today’s word, which is acclivity, meaning ‘An upward slope (of a hill, etc.); an ascending slope’ (OED) can be used figuratively. As MisterMac and I were on the sparrow-fart to LHR, we had an obscenely early start, which certainly felt like climbing an acclivity. And I think I’m ready to climb the wooden acclivity to bed now …
