Sorry if I have disappointed any ornithologists, who, on seeing the title, were expecting a picture of a wading bird swooping on my coffee cup, for cultrirostral is normally more relevant to our feathered friends. Today’s word of the day means ‘Having a bill shaped like a knife’ (OED). Now my bill was not knife shaped when it arrived, but by drawing on my origami skills, I was able to fulfil today’s task. And this is not just any old knife shape – it’s a Global knife, but, obviously, not as sharp as those in the kitchen drawer.
